Remote mail not being delivered to mail server. Remaote mail from outside of the erieshore.net network is being blocked before reaching our mail server. Internal email is being delivered just fine. (i.e. mail from one erieshore.net account will reach another erieshore.net account as well as any external account such as yahoo.com or netscape.com, however, external mail from outside domains such as yahoo.com and netscape.com is not being delivered to erieshore.net.) We are researching the problem.
As of 29.Feb.04 @ 8:00pm the problem has been traced to our up-stream provider who has recently upgraded thier system. They will not be able to look at the problem until Monday morning (March 1st.) Standby for further reports.
As of 01.Mar.04 @ 3:20pm Our up-stream provider has decided to block port 25 on thier main email server which was only suppost to affect thier residential customers. ESC has a commercial account which was not suppost to be affected by this blockage but unfortunately we were partially affected as explained above. Our up-stream technical support team is working diligently to resolve this problem. as soon as we hear more, we will update you via this page.
As of 03.Mar.04 @ 10:00am Called Upstream provider for an update on our trouble ticket and found out that it's been forwarded to the network techs as of last night. Was told we should hear something by the end of the work day today, after which we will post another update here.
As of 03.Mar.04 @ 12:00pm Received a phone call from Upstream providor and informed that the issue with port 25 has been resolved. The problem ended up being that they had listed the wrong IP Address for our server in their DNS Records. They have since corrected this and everyone should begin receiving any email accordingly. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

Mail Rejected from AOL. AOL has recently upgraded to some new email software that presently has a glitch in the program. It seems the program is falsly identifying and labling alot of domains, including erieshore.net, as domains that send out bulk, spam emails. AOL
is aware of the problem and is working to fix it as soon as possible. In the mean time if you send out an email to someone with an AOL address, it may be bounced back to you with the following message;
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your message has encountered delivery problems
to the following recipient(s):
username@aol.com
Delivery failed
Unable to deliver to destination domain

554-(RLY:B1) The information presently available to AOL indicates this
554-server is generating high volumes of member complaints from AOL's
554-member base. Based on AOL's Unsolicited Bulk E-mail policy at
554-http://www.aol.com/info/bulkemail.html AOL may not accept further
554-e-mail transactions from this server or domain. For more information,

Erie Shore SMTP (Outgoing) Mail server was down.As reported on the 7th of Oct., we did a major upgrade to our mail server. Although it initially worked on the first day, after doing some
more configuring and custumizations, it broke. (for a lack of a better way to put it). Mail from our server was able to be sent out, but incomming mail was bounced back or remained in "queue" for a couple days then bounced back. This problem has been fixed and the mail server is again fully functional. The time frame for these problems was from late Tuesday the 7th. thru Friday the 10th. of October 2003. Any mail that has been sent to an erieshore.net email address that was not bounced back to the original sender, should be safely delivered within the
next 24-hours.

Erie Shore Mail server was down for about an hour today to perform an upgrade. Erie Shore Communications is proud to announce a successful upgrade to the mail server. Today we upgraded from an old obsolete server to a more secure and reliable server. The changes on
the surface will be transparent to you, the end user, but behind the scenes, things will run much more efficiently. Please remember though that this was a major upgrade and there is tweaking yet to be done. these tweaks should have no effect or disruptions to the mail service but to be on the safe side we want to make
you aware that delays in e-mail delivery (incoming & outgoing) may be possible for the next week to 10-days while we make the neccesary adjustments to achieve peak-performance. Thank you for your patience.... The System Administrator.

AOL rejects incoming mail from
dynamic based IP mail servers. Being that Erieshore.net is an internet service that has been set up using high-speed cable, we have a dynamic based IP mail server. Unfortunately, AOL, for whatever reason, has set up their mail servers to reject any incoming e-mails originating from a dynamic IP address. Therefore, when sending e-mail to an AOL address, or to an e-mail address 'tied' to
an AOL account, you will more than likely receive a message simular to the following message with your rejected email:
Reporting-MTA: dns some_email_using_dynamic_ip.net
Received-From-MTA: DNS localhost.localdomain
Arrival-Date: Tue, 29 Jul 2003 12:29:46 -0700
Final-Recipient: RFC822 my_aol_account.net
Action: failed
Status: 5.5.0
Diagnostic-Code: SMTP 554- (RTR:BB) The IP address you are using to
connect to AOL is a dynamic
Last-Attempt-Date: Tue, 29 Jul 2003 12:29:48 -0700
We apologize for this inconvenience with the hopes that AOL will soon reverse thier decision on this matter.

When sending e-mail via Webmail, you may now send an email of un-limited size. Previously the default limit was 1-MegaByte per e-mail. This made it dificult to send large files such as mp3's, videos, or a assortment of pictures. With the 1-Meg size limit turned off, you should now be able to enjoy the benefits of sending any email with any attachment reguardless of size. |

The mail server went down for an overhaul Saturday afternoon (Dec. 29) and was down for nearly 36-hours while we upgraded and tweaked the system. This took a little longer than originally expected. Although you were still able to login and view your mailbox and folders, there was no new mail being received and no mail was able to be sent out during this time frame. Service interuptions like this should not be an issue in the future and we apologize for any inconvenience this outage has caused you. |

Erie Shore Communications will be going down for about 2-4 hours tonight (11-27-02) at 6:00pm. This means that the website, email and ftp server will all be down. Any mail that is sent to an erieshore.net address will be in limbo until the server is back online. These emails will automatically 'retry' to send to the server periodically until it
succeeds........so there is no need to worry about the loss of any email. Sorry
for any inconvenience. |
